Here are the frequently asked questions for the DEAC events and website. Simply click on the question to see the answer. If you have any questions not covered here, simply
contact us and we will answer them as soon as possible.
The Detroit Erotic Arts Collaborative (DEAC) is a unique closed event dedicated solely to the creation of fine art erotic photography. This includes, but is not limited to, artistic nudes, fetish, lingerie and pinup. The format is of the pre-scheduled trade variety in one hour intervals predetermined by the models and photographers prior to the event.
Photographers and models 18+, from amateur to professional, are welcome, but only those screened for professional integrity will be allowed. This is not to be elitist, but due to the erotic nature of the DEAC, it is to ensure security within a professional and productive event. Makeup artists, hair stylists and fashion designers are also welcome.
Yes. We don't care if you only photographed kittens or modeled cat-hats before. If you have a sincere desire to create fine erotic art, you are more than welcome here. However, you "do" have to have some sort of photographic work online for us to review its dedication towards your craft. Web and cell-cam shots are fine for interested models, but not for photographers...sorry.
No. If you have any limitations to what you will shoot, make sure you state this in your profile. By the rules, no one is allowed to disrespect your wishes by trying to convince you of moving past what you feel comfortable with. However, if you "do" have an interest in exploring further art potentials, DEAC is the perfect and most secure place to do so.
If you are a model, not as long as you are wthin the closed shooting areas and keep from view of the publicly accessible areas. If you are a photographer, please keep you clothes on. :D In all seriousness, though we love to have fun during the events, DEAC is strictly about shooting fine art erotica.
Other than those creating bondage and other fetish-related art, no. We hold a strict policy of no sex and no real "play" permitted within the DEAC areas whatsoever! Take that stuff home or to your room.
No. The format is of the pre-scheduled trade variety in one hour intervals predetermined by the models and photographers prior to the event. Once you sign up for an upcoming DEAC event (registration on the website was only the main step for membership), you then look through "participation list" to reviw portfolios and email those who you are interested in working with. Simply ask "do you have any openings at DEAC?" or something similar. If a person you wish to work with is not on this list, feel free to send them a link to the DEAC website to see if they are interested in participating.
Yes. You are allowed to bring your own model/MUA/photographer for your art, but they must also register here and pay the respective fees like everyone else. They are also free to be placed on the member roster to work with others, if they wish. If they are "only" interested in working with you and no one else, they can be listed as "private", but still must pay the respective fee. This works perfectly when creating art with a specific person or significant other to take advantage of our unique locations.
Yes, but only if they assist you in some way, are generally unnoticeable and stay with you at all times. Make them become your personal slave to carry your bags or setup your equipment. However, they cannot become your photographer, model or makeup artist for any portion of the shoot. If so, they must pay the related fees like everyone else.
No. You can schedule as little or as much as you are comfortable with. Some participants attend for one day and plan just a couple conceptual sessions to leave themselves room to prepare for the next shoot or to rest. Others are crazy and shoot every available hour on both days and still schedule shoots back in their hotel rooms afterhours. It is suggested that you leave yourself some time to rest during the day and get something to eat.
No. This is an hands-on (no pun intended) shooting event. You either participate in creating your art or you will not be allowed into the closed shooting areas. If you are looking to learn photography, either jump in at DEAC with both feet or find more suitable educational courses. Every now and then, DEAC offers workshops so keep an eye out for those.
The only fees allowed at DEAC are the DEAC registration fees for each event. However, makeup artists and hair stylists are allowed to charge a modest kit fee to cover their supplies. Other than that, DEAC is a large organized trade shoot and no one else is allowed to charge anyone else for anything on official DEAC locations and during official DEAC hours. However, off-site and after-hours are not under our ruling.
Primarily, we seek out and secure a variety of private locations for their unique ambiances to create our art within. We also provide a sense of security through the screening of each member for professional integrity and providing a team of floor monitors to ensure mutual respect and privacy. To make DEAC an even more enjoyable experience, we also try to coordinate our shoots alongside related area events and afterparties to create a festive overall weekend for all.
No, but we do seek out centralized hotels so that we can all stay together while trying to secure rate discounts for our members.
To become an approved member on the DEAC website means that we reviewed your work and references link and determined you are serious about creating erotic art. However, the location of each new DEAC event is kept private to only members that sign up for that specific event group. Signing up for each event is a courtesy for other participants to know who will be attending. Even if you do not plan to work with anyone else and want to become a "private" model, MUA or photographer, you still need to sign up. Anyone not on the participation list will not be allowed to attend DEAC events.
By the rules, all photographers must provide within a reasonable time "AT LEAST" edited web-ready versions of the final images to each model and makeup artists for free use within their respective portfolios. Anyone is free to request other criteria like prints or CDs, but that is up to all parties to discuss and agree upon. We will only ensure that you will recieve the web-ready images for your use. Anyone not providing those base images will be banned from future DEAC events.
If you are listed as participating and cannot make it for any reason, please be courteous and contact anyone you have scheduled with as soon as possible. Your attendance is important to them and advance notice will help them fill their empty slots quick. Simply not showing up without warning will result in banishment of all future DEAC events and your name will be shared with other group shoot coordinators! Please note that pre-paid refunds are given only upon request to the prepay website and up to 2 days before the event.
In the case you receive a cancellation notice, there will be an board where photographers and models can list their open time slots to find one another and continue creating art.
Yes. Actually, we encourage them. However, only upload photos in the DEAC Galleries that were shot at a DEAC event...during or afterhours. You may uplodad anything else within your personal portfolio though, but please be sane about it and do not put up anything involving penetration or hardcore kink.
